Ok,.. so it's been about 362 days since my last post. I completed the classes for cake decorating, and from looking at pictures that I've taken of what I've made, my instructor, Jane, was right. We would get better. And, she did have to start somewhere.
I've posted some of many photos of some things I've made. From the beginning of January 2012, until the end, which is the pink cake in the end of November.
*On a side not; I thought I had all of this on one blog. I forgot that I had tumblr and blogger. Ughhh, trying to decide which to use cause I only want to use one. One of my many goals this year is to blog a little more. =)
My little confections...

You gotta start somewhere...
My first little confection....
I've always enjoyed baking more than other things in the kitchen. I remembered when I would help my Aunt make something while she stayed with us in Arizona. She had lots of skills, she worked in Food King's bakery back in the day, so she was always making sweets for us and it was always so yummmmyy. I remember making a simple yellow cake with chocolate frosting, when my cousin first came from the Philippines. Also trying to write neatly on it with yellow icing, "Welcome to USA." hahahahahsklfjha! (Marlo, remember that?)
Soooo,...On a whim, I decided to sign up for a cake decorating class at Michael's. A friend of mine, Becky, actually told me about it a long time ago. Since I know I'll have plenty of time in January to wait around, I thought I'd give it a shot.
So, why not make this for me. Attending this class will be my, "me" time. Though, I haven't done a lot of baking from scratch with cakes, I figure, I'll learn. Why not?! =)
The class takes place every Monday in January for a couple hours. My instructor is very nice. She explained everything pretty clearly. She didn't assume that we already knew how to do everything, which is nice and considerate. I guess, mainly because, we don't. Or at least, I know I don't.
We practiced on cookies today. Just practiced with the bags and tips. It was a little hard at first because the icing was pretty stiff. It wouldn't come out of the bag as easily. I was squeezing it with all the strength I had in my right hand! Hahaha! Eventually, it softened from the warmth of my hand.
It was a lot to take in. Lots of new terms, baking and decorating tools, and I know this will test patience. Being patient alone is very challenging, but I find this very interesting. I'm looking forward to this class. I want to get better, and eventually be good. I will be good.
My instructor gave our small class some motivation by saying that it will get better. She said, "you gotta start somewhere." Sounds simple enough, but the more you let it settle in, the more it makes sense. Hopefully, that alone will motivate you to start something that interest you. :)
I posted photos of my cookies with my stars. Be nice! Hehehe! Enjoy! =)
Gnite.
